Packet
Racer (formerly"The Last packet")
Packet
Racer was initially developed as a game to feature the vast optical
fibernett that belongs to Banetele, the leading Norwegian fibernett
provider.

Their business is focused on selling services and "space"
on their networks that carry everything from TV signals for the major
networks to provide the fastest and most secure data transfers for businesses
in Norway and abroad.
The game it self is based upon their marketing material that formed
the basis of all the textures we created in the game. We also kept the
music in from their promotion material, as well as focusing on the "inside
the fibernett" feeling they have conveyed through numerous video
presentations.
Our starting point was to treat it as a sort of racing game, and from
that we created a track that was based upon the shape of Norway. At
each of the major cities in Norway, we placed a packet to be picked
up, and these packets are represented in the in-game map.
Gameplay is simple and intuitive, and is based upon collecting all the
packets that are spread around the map, and to do it as fast as possible.
The graphics of the game are very different that most games and the
eeriness of the music in the game, just adds to the odd feeling of the
game.
The game was recently reworked, and licensed to Atom Interactive, and
is featured on their www.shockwave.com website. By clicking on the image
below you can try out the game.
